We could not have picked a better marina to winter in. The berth was extremely well protected from the weather, behind not one, but two locks. Over the 5 months we have made some great friends, partied too much, fixed a smashed arm and completed dozens of boat jobs. However all good things must come to an end and it is time to untie the lines and get voyaging again.
This season we plan to visit Ireland and Scotland. The plan is fluid, but essentially it is to zig-zag up to Scotland and explore the Western Isles, possibly go round the top and back down the Caledonian canal.
Our first passage made best use if the tide and saw us average 8 knots over ground, with a top speed of over 12 knots. It turns out that, whilst you forget some stuff, the basics remain in place, and besides which, "It's only sailing for Christ's sake!" turns out to be very true.
Right now were are simply enjoying being back at anchor, with all the pros and cons this brings. Can't wait to for the stunning scenery ahead.
Stunning scenery best of luck do you and Phillip Scotland is a very nice place plenty to see ever safe journey bye for now
