Since Dom's visit we have been trying to get the most out of the last month of summer. I wanted to go to Patmos, to visit the famous monastry there, having been to the island before and not made it up the hill, and Phil wanted to go to Patmos, as he had found a supermarket that would refill our cooking gas in the town. With our destination agreed, we legged it back across the Cyclades in three hops, clocking up 40 mile days each time. We achieved one of these goals, having a very pleasant walk up the hill to the monastry. However, after going back and forth to the supermarket multiple times, we were unable to get the gas refilled due to a left-hand/right-hand thread problem, so we gave up and hoped to be able to solve the problem when we checked back into Turkey.
We were running out of Schengen days, so we moved quickly back down the Dodecanese, meeting up with some cruising friends on the way. After recovering from a very drunken evening, we stocked up on Mythos and made the final hop to Symi to check out of Greece.
Back in Turkey, we enjoyed a few lovely meals out, some regular running, some lovely sunsets, and the last oportunity to swim from the boat in what is now very warm sea water, around 24 degrees. We also re-engaged with "Operation find gas", but again we struck out, so now we are hoping to solve the problem in Cyprus.
We were only in Turkey for just over a week as we needed to move to Cyprus for the 1st November, when our marina contract started. The passage to Ayia Napa was around three days as the wind was very light giving us more of a slow drift, rather than a white knuckle ride. We our now in our winter home and have made a start on the list of jobs and are looking forward to some land exploration of Cyprus.
